Re: G60 Rado [Manwithouthat]
Some parts arrived this week!
Radiator fan support arm; I got this used from a guy on VWVortex for $15 shipped.
New oem knock sensor
Washer fluid lines and washer fluid pump
Serpentine belt and tensioner
New coolant temperature housing
Supercharger belt

New o-rings and original metal retaining clips (the cat's meow)
on the coolant temp sensor housing

New vs Old knock sensors
The broken radiator fan had started getting frisky with the old knock sensor.
So I put an end to that by using protection and zip ties.

Old washer fluid lines were faded, cracked, brittle, and ugly. New lines are clear, soft, and flexible!

There were OEM clips that held in the old lines. But once I touched them they fell apart in my fingers the plastic was so brittle. Zip ties work just as well.

Installed the billet aluminum dipstick and funnel I got from GruvenParts.com. This product has built in o-rings (same as fuel injectors) to seal it tight.
Paul at GruvenParts.com is a great guy! Trying to find 20 people to go in on billet aluminum coolant temperature sensor housings for the G60 with me. Paul will make us some but for it to be worth it he needs to make 20 pieces. PM me if you are interested in this. Or you know where I can get one!

Re: G60 Rado [Manwithouthat]
I realized I needed new bolts for the rear engine mount to engine mount bracket. Ordered them from TechTonics.
Received them and one was 5 mm too short. I called them and they put the correct one in the mail that day.

Pulled out the front engine mount. Talk about beat to shit! The top mounting stud had ripped loose from the mount. Every time the engine lifted up and came back down it was slamming this stud on the mount and just beating it like mad!

Bottom side looks fine. But one of the bolts had some pretty gnarly threads so I'm going to pick up a new one.

I got the Corrado something nice to wear. New badgeless grill from SpoonFed

It's not really badgeless anymore, I know. I like the G60 badge I added.

Montana Bolt out on Broadway is a great place to find things like that too if you're in a crunch.

Alright so when I got everything back together she didn't want to turn over. I checked the starter and it was dead. Ordered a Bosch remanufactured one and got one of the two bolts in and now the bottom bolt doesn't want to thread into the engine mount!
The bolt goes through the starter, transmission and into the engine mount just like I would imagine every other VW.
It feels like it starts threading into the hole and after a few turns it pops out. I have stopped trying because I don't want to strip the bolt or the hole.
I'm guessing that this is because the hole is misaligned?
I tried jacking up the engine/transmission. The only difference that made was it didn't thread in the hole at all anymore.
I read online I should try loosening the front engine mount so it has some play and then putting the starter bolt in.
Anyone have a better idea?

I have had that problem... I ended up having to replace that metal mount/bolt. But you can take it out and get the correct tap to re-thread it and you might get lucky. I might have one of these laying around too.

Easiest way is to unbolt the whole mount. Then install the mount to the engine first. It's pretty hard to line up when it's still bolted to the subframe.Manwithouthat wrote:Alright so when I got everything back together she didn't want to turn over.
