Post by Rennwagen1 » Nov Wed 07, 2007 9:36 pm

ANyone know if the late carbiolets came with power steering?I am looking to put power steering the GTI if I can (blasphemy, I know!!) and i was thinking that the later cabbies might have p/s that I couls swap in. It is kinda going to be a winter project for me, I think. Gotta have something to do to keep my busy./....

I think they possibly did. I know Steve has power steering on his GTI so if you want I'll get his number for you. He's a hella nice guy.

Would this be going in your autocross car?

Have you ever autocrossed an early H2O VW with power steering and wider than stock tires?

My '88 GTI had PS, and it was horrible for autocross. After the 1st turn every time I moved the wheel I was moving the steering wheel faster than the PS could move the rack, it was tremendously annoying. The R does it too, sometimes.

Just my $.02
