brother -in -laws passat

My brother in laws passat is having auto tranny issues ,it drives fine until it warms up the it wont shift into some of the gears.I reset all the codes and worked for about ten min .He needs advise for the vw goo rues

its probably to late at this point, have him take it in for a full tranny flush and filter change, its the only thing that may save it at this point.

My brother had the same car and had his trans rebuilt for $2500. not worth it...
