Squeaking Steering Wheel
So lately when I turn my steering wheel it makes a really high pitched squeal and whine. The fluid is full and appears to be good. Just curious if anyone has any ideas on what it might be. Summer season is coming and I'll be driving it more. Cant have breakdowns. Thanks guys

Is it the actual steering wheel? You might have gunk in there where the contact for the horn touches the ring? Got a compressor? Blow some air in the go between the column and the wheel, and see if that fixes it?

Or maybe lube up your clock spring with some dielectric?

Re: Squeaking Steering Wheel
I'd like a little bit more of a specific description, but I'll give it a shot.
Sounds like the pump to me. There's a filter in the bottom of the reservoir, and it can get clogged. Takes a reservoir drain and fill to get to it, but it can be done.
If the noise is under your hood it's the pump not getting fluid. Or it's your pump failing.

Re: Squeaking Steering Wheel
Hmm very good suggestions. Thanks guys. It does not happen in the morning or when the car is cold. Just after the ambient temperature is higher, later in the day, and once the car is warmed up. Would you be able to take a look at it someday Mike. I'd like to take it to Yellowstone next weekend. If it needs to be fixed I should fix it before I sell it. (Or maybe sell it, if I have too).
