Leavenworth was officially incorporated on September 5, 1906. A small timber community, it became the headquarters of the Great North Railroad in the early 1900s. The railroad relocated to Wenatchee in the 1920s, greatly affecting Leavenworth's economy. The city struggled until 1962, when the Project LIFE (Leavenworth Improvement for Everyone) Committee was formed to transform the city into a mock Bavarian village to revitalize its economy. Leavenworth's Oktoberfest celebration is one of the most attended outside Munich, Germany.

Things you are going to need!
Here is a list of thing things you should bring to the annual Leavenworth Drive:

Your European car! All European makes are welcome.
Minimum $10 donation in cash (all net proceeds go to our Charity!)
Full tank of gas
Camera (there will be 600+ cars at the event!)
Bring a friend along for the ride, even if they don’t have a European car, they can ride with you for the day’s drive
A little spending cash for your arrival in Leavenworth. There are several great eating locations that serve up all manner of Bavarian themed fare. Bratwurst and sauerkraut for everyone! There are also a number of specialty shops selling souvenirs, hats, ice cream, toys, artwork, and so much more.
Fun and open attitude to have a great time. This is a laid back event, but with 600+ cars on the road people can get excited. Please drive safe and sane and make the event fun for all!

I'm interested in going to this. Are you?
2013 they had 750+ cars participate in this cruise.
If we can get a group of people to go to this it would be awesome and cost effective. Sharing gas/hotel bills.
I hope to get at least one car of people to go on this awesome "Euro-Trip".

If you don't want to drive your classy chassis all the way to Bellevue here in Missoula I have 2 trailers that can haul 1 car each and another trailer that can haul 2 cars. Sadly I have no truck to use with these trailers. All I have are VWs. If anyone would like to use a trailer for an event please let me know!

Ideally, we would drive over the day before the cruise and get cheap hotel rooms to stay in. Go have breakfast some where cool before we wash/gas up for the cruise. Return plans would be dependent on the time the cruise is over. I would assume it would be easily doable to just drive back in the middle of the night since we'd have people to switch with if someone got tired.

I will also be posting this in the Boise, Idaho Volkswagen group.

If you decide you'd like to go please comment on this post and say that you are in on it. This will be a really fun experience to take a kid on if you have kids. PM me your name, location, # of people in your party, and contact information as well. Once we have a few people going I'll start making vague plans for meeting up, hotels, and such. The plans will get more specific as we approach the date.

LETS DO THIS!!!

Please enjoy these photos other people have taken from previous years...

Glad you made an official event for this. Maybe all five active members on the site can meet up and do this!

Whatever seems like the best idea. Options would be:

1)Drive over the day of which means leaving at like midnight and get there with hardly time to eat and gas. Then drive back that same night. I really don't like this option.

2) Drive over on the 13th and find a cheap hotel to stay in and split the bill. Then return after the cruise Saturday night.

3) Drive over on the 13th and find a cheap hotel to stay in and split the bill. Then stay another night and leave Sunday morning. This option would be good if we wanted to check out some bars in Seattle or do other fun things like go to Achtuning!

If you guys hit up Achtuning, tell Dion, Aeron from MT says hi. If any if you remember (read are old enough) to remember the New Dimensions car show in San Jose, he and I cruised down there a few times.
